A six-member Nepalese delegation led by Hon. Hridayesh Tripathi, Minister for Physical Planning, Works and Transport Management of Nepal held a bilateral meeting with Hon. Kwon, Do-Youp, Minister of the Ministry of Land, Transport and Marine Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Korea at the latter’s office today. During the meeting, matters of bilateral interests and mutual cooperation were discussed. Both the Ministers also discussed to enhance mutual cooperation in the field of infrastructural development in Nepal particularly in the areas of transportation and sharing technology in railway, metro and tunnel construction. Highlighting the policy of the Government of Nepal and its priority in developing the transportation sectors, the Hon. Minister Mr. Tripathi urged the Korean side to encourage the Korean potential investors to invest in Nepal. The signing of an MOU between the two Ministries for mutual consultation and cooperation at a mutually convenient time was also discussed. The Korean side assured for cooperation in the development of infrastructures in Nepal as well as providing trainings to the government officials of Nepal at the Railway Research Centre in Korea. The members of the Nepalese delegation include Mr. Tulsi Prasad Sitaula, Secretary, Mr. Hariom Prasad Srivastav, Joint Secretary, Mr. Rajendra Nepal, Undersecretary, Mr. Rajesh Uprety, Section Officer of the Ministry of Physical Planning, Works and Transport Management and Mr. Ram Kumar Lamsal, Director General of Department of Railways. The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Kaman Sing Lama, Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of Korea and Mr. Raja Ram Bartaula, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of Nepal in Seoul. From Korean side Oh, Jae-wook, Director, Gi-Seong Kong, Deputy Director, Kim Hyoung-geun, General Manager, Kim Jin-nam, Manager and Kim Young-june, Engineering Manager of the Overseas Rail Projects Division were also present on the occasion. Earlier yesterday upon arrival at the Incheon International Airport, the Nepalese delegation was received by His Excellency Mr. Kaman Singh Lama and Mr. Raja Ram Bartaula, Deputy Chief of Mission. The delegation is also scheduled to meet the Chief Executive Officer of the Korea Railway tomorrow. During the visit, the members of delegation will also observe the railway network system and transportation management by the Korean authorities. The delegation will return back on August 24, 2012.
